Abstract

Problem: The evolution of society towards the digital age has generated the need to redefine the concept of leadership and adapt it to new realities and technologies. Objective: Design a concept of leadership aligned with the digital society, which allows leaders to lead interpersonal relationships in new technologies and take advantage of the benefits of the digital age. Method: The article uses a theoretical and analytical approach to explore leadership in the digital society. Previous research, leadership theories and concepts, as well as data on the digital society and emerging technologies are reviewed. Results: Digital leadership requires specific skills, such as the ability to motivate, the appropriate technological infrastructure, skills in information and communication technologies (ICT) and the perception of usefulness of these technologies. In addition, key principles are identified, such as reflection, flexibility, dialogical communication, and the definition of roles. Recommendations are also proposed, such as the consideration of temporality and the promotion of work among peers. The cyclical phases of the model for incorporating emerging technologies into the organization are described. Conclusion: Digital leadership is essential in the digital society and requires leaders trained in digital skills and with the ability to adapt to constant changes. Organizations must provide infrastructure, training, and technical support to facilitate the incorporation of emerging technologies. Digital leadership allows us to take advantage of the benefits of the digital age and improve the productivity and competitiveness of organization.
