Abstract

PROBLEM: To establish the nature and magnitude of the linear relationship between the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and academic performance in master's level students. OBJECTIVE: To identify and quantify the nature of the linear relationship between the VLE and academic performance of students in the preparatory program for the Master's in Formulation and Evaluation of Projects at the School of Graduate Studies, CCEE. METHOD: The study was framed within the postpositivist paradigm, utilizing a quantitative approach with correlational scope to establish significant relationships between the VLE and academic performance. A non-experimental cross-sectional design was employed, and an instrument was administered to 60 students, structured into 5 sections. RESULTS: The analysis of linear regression between the VLE as an independent variable and academic performance as a dependent variable showed a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.2577, and the coefficient of determination (R^2) was 0.0664. CONCLUSION: The analysis between the variables revealed a modest correlation between the VLE and academic performance, represented by a correlation coefficient of 0.2577. Additionally, the coefficient of determination suggests that only approximately 6.64% of the variability in academic performance can be attributed to variations in the VLE, indicating the influence of other factors not considered in the analysis.
