Factors affect the academic efficiency of bachelor students

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: determine the factors that affect in the terminal efficiency of the students of Bachelor in Pedagogy and Educative Administration of six headquarters of the Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala METHOD: a study with a post-positivist paradigm was made, with a mixed approach, a descriptive scope, with a concurrent design. A sample of 108 students was taken to whom an interview was applied, 6 coordinators to whom an interview was applied, a focus group of 6 students with pending graduation exams and a focus group of 6 graduates from the respective career was utilized. RESULTS: the obtained results show that the factors that affect in the terminal efficiency vary, meeting with the ones attributed to the technological factors, among which there can be mentioned the use of platforms by the professors in the formative processes and the tutoring modality that brings the professor during the career, the personal factors corresponding to the economy, family and labor and the institutional factors such as the support to the students in the administrative registration processes, courses assignation and related to the development of supervised professional practice. CONCLUSION: it was determined that the technological, personal and institutional factors affect positively in the terminal efficiency of the students of Bachelor in Pedagogy and Educative Administration from the Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
